Petite: seven companions, from the first coffee to after nine
Seven companions between 158 and 169 cm. Petite here is read from frame and bearing as much as from the tape: a light step, an easy line through a crowded bar, a coat that sits right without fuss. It says nothing about temperament, which on this page runs from very calm to very quick.

Morning and midday
Lucy, 163 cm, dark curls worn long, a runner's build, is free in daylight when most of the gallery is not. Coffee first in Borough, a slow lap of the market stalls, then the river path towards the bridge while she points out things you had walked past twice. An hour is enough; ninety minutes adds the long way round.
Mid-afternoon
Rosa, 160 cm, chestnut curls worn loose, starts in the afternoon from Sunday to Thursday and likes the day to slide into dinner without a join showing. Bermondsey's railway arches are her ground, and she eats as she walks, trading opinions with the stallholders about bread and records.
Six o'clock
Tiffany, 169 cm with a light frame and long chocolate brown hair, arrives just as the offices let out. A glass on a terrace near Finsbury Square while the light shifts across the towers, then dinner or a stroll down towards Spitalfields. She photographs streets for pleasure and misses very little. Midweek suits her best.
Five until ten
Sonya, 162 cm, a dancer's upright carriage, keeps a fixed window from five in the evening until ten. Evensong at the cathedral beside London Bridge, then a quiet supper nearby. Nothing inside that window is rushed, and nothing runs past it.
Half past seven
Lea, 161 cm, auburn waves, is the midweek theatre name: an early bite, a play in the modern auditorium by Tower Bridge, and the walk back with the bridge lit above the dark water.
After nine
Jasmin, 160 cm and light on her feet from salsa, starts late and often says yes the same evening; she sits at the bar to watch the cocktails being made. Tina, 158 cm, the shortest on the roster, takes evenings at short notice, beginning among the racks of a record shop off Brick Lane before one well chosen cocktail bar.
Reading the clock from your end
