Fourteen companions between 25 and 29, the fullest band in the gallery. It is the stage of life when interests stop being experiments and harden into habits. A piano played most days. One author, always in a coat pocket. A boat whenever the wind allows. These women know what they enjoy and can tell you why in a sentence.

Which bank the band favours
Eight of the fourteen head for the south bank first, from the Globe and the book tables under Waterloo Bridge to Bermondsey Street and the market arches. Six start on the north side, somewhere between the Barbican, Bank, St Katharine Docks, Columbia Road and Brick Lane. Either way, a walk across one of the bridges tends to become part of the plan.
