Hotel visits on either side of the river, at any hour
This is the booking most guests make first and most often: one companion, one address, an agreed number of hours. You give the desk the hotel, the time of the knock and the length of the evening. Inside a quarter of an hour it writes back naming her, confirming the fee and saying when she will be there. On most nights she is at your door inside the hour of that reply, whether the door is high in the Shard above London Bridge or two floors up in a converted print works in Shoreditch.
The first hour costs £250. Stretch it to ninety minutes and it is £400; two hours come to £500. Her cab is inside those figures for any address in Zones 1 and 2, which takes in every district on this site and the river running between them. The desk has no arrangement with any hotel. These are just the buildings that come up most often in first messages, and she knows the routine at each of them: which entrance stays open after midnight, where the lifts are, whether reception likes evening visitors to wait downstairs.
Crossing the lobby
She arrives dressed for the building rather than for effect. A tailored coat suits the banking hall at The Ned, something softer suits a boutique room off Great Eastern Street, and at a quiet aparthotel she is simply a resident's guest coming in from the rain. She walks straight to the lifts unless the hotel asks every visitor to sign in, and where it does, she gives reception whatever it asks for, exactly as any caller would. Prefer to collect her downstairs? Say so in your message and she writes to you from the entrance instead.
Serviced flats, short lets and homes
Plenty of these visits never involve a hotel. The City and its edges are full of serviced apartments, around the Barbican, along Bishopsgate, in the newer towers above Aldgate, and Shad Thames has warehouse lofts let by the week. For any of them the desk needs the building, the flat number and the way in: a concierge, an entry panel, a key-card lift. A private home is checked once, by its address, and from then on it is treated like any hotel room.
Sixty minutes, ninety, or two hours
One hour suits the end of a hard day: a drink from the minibar and a conversation with nothing to do with work. Ninety minutes fits a guest who has eaten already and wants a later start somewhere near Bank. Two hours is where the evening stops feeling timed, and it is the length regular guests tend to settle on. Wanting her to stay longer once she has arrived is ordinary. Ask the desk, or ask her, before the booked time runs out; the extra is agreed in writing, billed at the following step of the fees, and depends on what the rest of her night holds.
Quick to answer, quick to arrive
Stacy is the tallest of this group at 176 cm and says yes to short notice on most nights of the week. Tina, at 158 cm, answers just as fast and arrives with the energy of someone who has come from training rather than from a desk. Michelle replies quickly and talks easily from the first minute, which helps after a long day of meetings. Tiffany is at her best midweek once office hours are over, and takes a real interest in well designed hotels. Angelika starts from seven in the evening and suits a late, unhurried visit. Tina and Tiffany are both in the petite group; the other three are taller.
