Michelle, cocktails thirty-one floors up

Michelle talks to strangers, and within ten minutes they are no longer strangers. She is 173 cm and curvy. Long, straight and dark brown, her hair frames brown eyes that warm up the moment she starts talking. She favours soft romance in rose and blush tones: a silk dress that moves when she walks, a delicate necklace, a pale trench for the wind off the river. She is elegant without seeming to try, which is the hardest kind.

Nurturing is her instinct. A tired guest finds a glass of water in front of him before he has thought to ask, and a plan quietly bent to suit his mood. Conversation, in English, is easy and constant, and she is a wonderful storyteller. Her London Bridge evening starts at Aqua Shard, on level 31 of the Shard, where the bar looks down on the river, Tower Bridge and the grey hull of HMS Belfast moored below. She orders something she has never tried and asks the bartender how it is built. Dinner can follow close by, around the station and Borough Market, and she loves a riverside walk afterwards, past the warship and the lights on the water.
